    I thought George Martin did an exceptional job on this album. You're taking timeless music and tweaking it brilliantly. The sting instruments and the fact that he brough out the "back" instruments is just awesome. It's almost as if the stage would have the string instruments and drummer in the front and singer/guitarist in the back. What a concept. Well done. I will listen for years to come.… Expand

    If anyone other than George Martin had done this, I never would have given it a listen. If you were ever a fan of the Beatles, put on a good set of headphones and fire this one up. Parts will bring tears of joy. John and George would love this.

    A good pair of headphones, or stereo system, and possibly a 'herbal Jazz cigarette' or two, and you will hear the Beatles in all of their re-mastered glory. This album is just a prelude for the re-mastered catalog that is expected to be released in the near future. 40 years after Sgt. Pepper, and still no one can touch them.

    Only George Martin could get away with this "heresy." But it creates a Beatles revival that serves as a soundtrack for another Cirque de Soliel masterpiece and a fitting tribute to the Fab 4. Only Martin would know how to take a lot of his previous work and the Beatles songs and remix them into a fresh sound that's almost like hearing the Beatles for the first time. Reviewers can argue that this should have been used and that should have been done, but you have to appreciate the whole CD as a masterpiece in itself. Let them remix the next CD.… Expand

    you mean this was the same George Martin that helped produce the "White Album", Magical Mystery Tour", .... Why, in Gawds' name has so many tracks on this take been so brutally chopped into a SpeedTracks crash site. ?!!! Do NOT BUY this- although I must say the one saving grace was that It was on sale at Best Buy for 1/3rd off. -so now I know why. 'cause I didn't really listen to it before I bought it did I ? Sorry George, I know its not you, its the Bush's in the Music Industry today. -tears for fears here. -Can someone just package the real original Bealtes in a 30 CD set or whatever ? ya, ok maybe this isn't so bad but do the above and I will gladly pay for the whole and original skebang. -or, you're just going to force me to download them.… Expand

    Love Love - As I lifelong Beatles fan I thought I'd never get as jacked again now as I did in the '60s when the boys came out with something new - but I have. I need to make the pilgrimage to Vegas now to see the show. My kids already were Beatles fans and now they are listening to their songs all over again - and getting their friends into it too - what more could you ask for.

    Simply put, listening to "love" was like hearing these songs again for the first time. The excitement this album generates is amazing. Sometimes it is a bit overkill, but the mixes created are supurb overall. And the sound quality alone is breath taking. Purists may scream, but I'm a purist myself...and I enjoyed this album immensely.

    Only a master like George Martin can keep the integrity of the original recording while paying homage with this masterpiece!!! Every Beatle fan will find this enjoyable and it will prove once again why even today Beatle music blows away the music of today.Martin again shows how The Beatles and himself were so ahead of their time!

    When I heard this on Virgin Radio's Geoff Show, (this was before they released it) I thought to myself, wow. This album is amazing. Sir George Martin and his son Jules have done an outstanding job at remastering and mixing old Beatles songs, to make them into something new and fresh. Something for a new generation.

    I think some of the critics haven't read what the concept of the album and the music is all about. The songs feature parts of other songs all the way through album, some really noticeable, some that you can't hear because it fits with the music so well. I honestly do believe that this is one of the greatest albums of the year. It brings together some of the best music ever written, and in a way that you've never heard it before. I think people should just sit back and enjoy listening to it.… Expand

    I hate this album, it was made for money only like Yoko, Paul, or ringo really need it.. The jerk who sliced up the old master tracks and revised them and added new electronic noises is a complete moron and anyone who falls for this crap is also a moron. They tooks classics and tweaked them a bit and rearranged the lyrics, i'm fully disappointed with this album and the people who didn't really listen to the beatles on their own before but only listened to them on the radio don't know the damn difference. The beatles fell apart long ago and now your just stomping on the memory atleast with the original albums we had the real thing not a modernization of the beatles.… Expand

    The Beatles is the best band that ever existed! I do not mind re-mixes of their amazing music but this is just a like a mixture of jingles. The only clever idea is "Withing Yoy and Without You/Tomorrow Never knows" The rest is unnecessary. Much more interesting to go back to "The Anthology"

    "Love" is all about fun, and making things fun again. I am giving it a 10 because each time I hear this CD I just grin from ear to ear, laughing out loud at the transitions and familiar tidbits. It is like watching your family in a funhouse mirror! I grew up with the Beatles during the 60's, when each new album was greeted with amazement - what were they going to do now, after Rubber Soul, after Revolver? Such anticipation has long worn off, but "Love" brings back a palpable feeling of joy and surprise to this material. Imagine all this growth in only 5 years - incredible! I am firmly in the camp that values emotional expression over historical purity - I support a complete remastering of the Beatles catalog that brings the work into present day sonic standards. "Love" demonstrates how powerful those original tracks still are, and how exciting a new presentation can be. The old mixes are a classic experience, but were made with almost no understanding of the potential of stereo sound - the assumptions of the LPs were that of sub-standard delivery systems, and there is no longer a need to hit that lowest common denominator. More than anything else, "Love" reminds me just how great the Beatle's music really is - and how much fun it can be.… Expand

    this alblum comfirms what i always knew,george martin was the 5th beatle."love" takes you on a Magical Mystery Tour of some of the best recordings ever made by any artist."love"could be described as an extension to what abbey road was and is.the word "mashed" shouldn't be used to describe this alblum.love is brillent."love" is the closest thing any of us will ever have to what a modern day beatles concert would sound like.thanks for the idea george harrison and thank you george & giles martin for a job well done.… Expand

    The Beatles left such a large legacy of music it would take too long to come up with something in the vein of "Love" that every fan liked. The Beatles produced a lot of experimental music and this album is experimental. We become conditioned to what we hear, so hearing something so similar but different can be disturbing. But this album was produced as the soundtrack to a 'Cirque9; show in Las Vegas, so there are limits to what could be done. The best way to appreciate the album is to first see the show in Las Vegas. There are some places in the show where the mash-up is required, but there are other places where staying with something more traditional is better. The combination of the chord from Help, the drum solo from Abby Road leading into Get Back, with the action on stage is one of the most powerful theatrical moments I have ever seen. I want to see it again, because I know I missed some of the action. The stage is very busy. It is one of the shows where every time you see it you will probably se something new.… Expand

    I heard one of the more radical reworkings on this album in a bookstore, and so I got the album. Had the whole album been just as radical, it would have been worth it. A lot of the songs are really different at all. It's a great idea, and the most radical songs are fun to hear, because the Beatles' songs are so familiar to recognize them in new contexts is fun, but much of the album just sounds like the songs were really aggressively remastered, and not changed that much. A great idea, half-botched.… Expand

    I love the Beatles, obviously. I believe their tunes are masterpieces, not to be ever tampered with. But, sadly, this album doesn't prove that wrong. When i was listening to 'Here comes the sun', the Indian drum beat vibe was interesting yes, but the song itself didn't feel the same. Seriously, classics should never EVER be remixed

    If you are a Beatles fan (and who isn't?) who sits around some days thinking, "I would give my left arm if someone could discover a long-lost Beatles album of previously unreleased material - like a sequel to Sgt. Pepper or something... oh my god I'm getting excited just thinking about it!) I'm sorry, but that's never going to happen. This is the next best thing though. I would even take this over "Let It Be... Naked." It's for Beatles fans.… Expand

    yeah, yeah, yeah... read the reviews, bought the CD saturday (my early CD place), listened twice, burnt a coupla of copies for friends, and will have filed it away next to Beatles # 1 before this time next week

    I liked it a lot at first, but after a few plays I started to get tired of it. It's like the whole fun is in the surprise element but once that's done there's not much you haven't heard before.

    It's great to hear Beatles songs with the added depth of modern production but whilst the reworkings are interesting I rather have just have the back cataloge remastered.They can start with the white album.

    I have heard so many people say this album fails on the concept, but do these people really know what they are talking about. The album was not intended for a cd. It is part of a show in Vegas. Of course the cd inside the show is much better, but it's nice to hear it on cd. If the cd was all complete tracks, then what kind of show would that be. The inside jacket gives photos from the show to sort of visualize the experience. Anyone who gives this lower than a 9 did not do their homework as to why this show was even made into a cd to begin with.… Expand

    Wasn't sure anything could improve the memories of "being there" when first heard on vinyl, but Martin's strings with "While My Guitar.." heard in Dolby 5.1 reflects the Love that went into the whole project - amazing

    Beatles music is great, and any refreshing remix is welcome. However, I gave up on this after two listens. I am sure it would have even more appeal given the context of the Cirque de Soleil show it is meant to accmopany. However, this just seemed like more Anthology-based reworkings that really don't warrant a purchase. The mash-ups were creative, but in the end, I'm not interested in just a new track list of existing Beatles music.… Expand

    This album shows the true genius of the artists and the Martin's intimacy with the music. A truly emotional experience that will bring the music of the Beatles to a new generation. It actually crosses generations, grandmothers and grandfathers are listening and reliving cherished memories, mothers and fathers are sharing this amazing music with their children who, many for the first time, are hearing some of the best music of all time. I cannot wait to see the show with my family and enjoy the combination of music and visuals. I am not ashamed to admit that there will be tissues in my pocket and few tears shed before we hear the final notes of All You Need is Love.… Expand

    An effort of this type can degenerate into sappy sentimentalism, unless the thread that weaves the album together is the music of The Beatles, and the seamstress George Martin. These songs have aged well as has the creativity of Martin. "Love" is far more than a pleasing fusion of great music from one of rock's great bands; it is an earnest reminder of why The Beatles remain relevant involving any discussion of popular music and its various directions and expresssions throughout the years. The only reason I could not rate this album a 10 is because McCartney was correct in his opinion that Martin could have been even more experimental. Still, a great piece of work for collectors of fine pop music.… Expand

    This is a real Beatles album. It is Revolution #9 and Abbey Road fully realized. A true concept album. Yes there are moments when the transitions will cross a person line, but there are new moments of true Beatles power which will reach to the listener. It is art, so it won't be everything to everyone, but you can feel that the inspiration and muse behind this album comes from a place and time before "the suits won". Of course there is a marketing juggernaught behind any official Beatle offering, but the reality is that this particular piece harkens to other ideals. It's a magnificent soundscape, and listening in 5.1 surround sound is the closest thing to a "happening" I have experienced in a very long time.… Expand

    Gets better upon repeated listenings... I was very skeptical at first, but this CD has won me over. An amazing compilation, re-mastering and re-mxing of some great songs. Every year or two I re-discover the Beatles and am amazed at what they accomplished. Yes, it would be great if they re-mastered all the original LPs, but until they do, this is a nice way to pass time, to escape into a soundscape of pop and rock masterpieces.… Expand

    This is a great Cd...Its fun hearing things that were pushed back a bit in the original mixes and less of the "stacked" sounds that covered up some great things proving that sometimes less is more. Now...to all you purest...This Cd is what it is...a new fresh way to listen to the fab four...You still have the original cds and I'm not in any way implying that this is better....just a new aproach!… Expand

    If you like the originals more, listen to them. Nobody forces you to only listen to Love. Having said that, I purchased the DVD-Audio version, and it is by far the best sounding Beatles release yet. That alone, warrants a high rating. However, this should be the last Beatles release for a long time. "1" was great for the people who loved the "hit" songs, but it wasn't for me and would have rathered listen to the originals. Because I can't always listen to all the Beatles albums in one sitting, I consider this to be my version of "1".… Expand

    Right from the beginning, hearing "Because" in Acapella the CD grabbed me and the songs grab you in ways they didn't before. Hearing well constructed versions of great songs adds a new dimension without dimiinshing the fantastic originals.by the best musicians in history.

    This work is really a showcase of the Beatles increadable talent. Their harmony is quite remarkable and their imagination when these tracks are disected is captivating. A few spots are troubling, but overall Martin does a fine job of piecing it all together. "because" will loop in your head all day long...

    George Martin's son seems to be a silly kid, playing with the golden toys that his genious father gave to him. The idea of refreshing is really great, but you shoul'd do it in a wise way, avoiding harm . The brilliant violins of "Good Night" should't has to be disturbed by Ringo's voice track to "i like to be". You shoul'd not make a stuped crossfade between a live concert audience sound, and the well known regular-dry version of "the hard day's night. Maybe you just full of coce Mr Martin Junior...… Expand

Even a baby can press the 'mute' buttons, to leave space to the brilliant voicetracks in 'Because', and actually that was the only smart touch in that mad overmixxxxxxxxxing session that someone called a CD.… Expand

    this album is simply remarkable....i only gave it a 9 because it's such a tease. you'll hear certain intros and parts to other songs, and you want them to continue...when suddenly they end. however, another tune starts and you begin to feel the goosebumps. i was very surprised when i heard this album. kudos to george and giles.

    The remastering alone would qualify this disc for a '9' rating, as would the pure entertainment value. But more than that, the finely detailed song reconstructions within illuminate the detail and texture that the Beatles put into every layer of their songs -- even though (at the time) most typical sonic equipment was incapable of unveiling it. This is music that had to wait for time and technology to catch up with, and which reveals its creators as the major talents they were.… Expand

    It's not a bad idea on paper, but the results aren't full of enough cross-cutting and weirdness. It feels like Martin is holding back, allowing for too many numbers that are practically identical to their original counterparts.

    It's a bit disappointing to hear 'Strawberry Fields' mixed with 4 or 5 other songs, then 'A Day in the Life' the album version. There are very creative moments and then there are studio cuts (which I've heard hundreds of times before). A great concept but a little weak on delivery.

    Because it's the Beatles, I'll meet them halfway. But the whole idea of mishmashing their songs to introduce their music to new generations of potential listeners seems all at once resigned, contrived, desperate, and a bit of yet another money grab from the Fab Four. These guys and their estates already have enough mammon for a jillion lifetimes, so why mess with perfection? If there was actually something new in this package, it would be worth spending money on to put under the Christmas tree. But it's like playing musical trivial pursuit with Beatles' songs as the calling cards. Uh, no thanks, but I'll take another glass of wine, please. I've sampled this album, and while it is mildly interesting, not one of the remakes sounds better than the original from which it came. So that leaves me asking: What's the point? Maybe old George Martin is bored living off of his royalties in the English countryside. Oh, what John Lennon, the Beatles' conscience, would think of all of this. We know Yoko, Paul, and Ringo long ago sold their souls to the devil. George would go along to get along, just like the old days. Beatlemaniacs will eat it up, of course. I'll take the main courses that are their original albums.… Expand

    Being able to hear some of the old classics in remixed, remastered versions is something I've been waiting for longer than I can remember. I am the Walrus and A Day in the Life are worth the price of admission alone.

    Anyone and everyone who loves or even remotely likes the Beatles (and, really, shouldn't that be just about anyone who enjoys rock?) should purchase this special edition with the DVD. Not only is the music itself incredible, not only is the remastering job on the CD amazing, but the DVD in surround is absolutely mind-blowing. You cannot believe how huge and clear the sound is in surround. Fantastic! What Goerge M. and son have accomplished here is a work of art, pure and simple. Finally, one last comment - in remastered sound, it is astounding how fresh and new these recordings sound. The music is beyond timeless - most, if not all of it sounds as though it was literally recorded a few hours ago. They are, and always will be, the best band ever.… Expand

    Listening to "Love" for the first time was an astronatical lift off into an emotion-filled startosphere. WOW! WOW! WOW! The feeling was intense. Can you still remember the first time you rode a tilt-a-wheel or a roller coaster? Can you imagine the joy of holding a ressurected loved-one in your arms once again. If you can, then you have an idea of what listening to this album did for me. I can only imagine what listening to these sounds again did to the remaining Beatles, Paul and Ringo.     Must be considered as a soundtrack to a stage show and on its own, this edible mash-up succeeds for me solely on is capacity to pull heartstrings for I was weaned on their music. Nice crisp sound that has me salivating for more and the game that is 'spot the song' is agreeable but then again; it's not a gimmick but something I shall not listen to as often as the two other remastered works.… Expand

    Great album. Keep in mind that this was produced as a soundtrack to a Cirque du Soleil show, not just as another Beatles re-release. Some of the mixes were designed for the live performance in mind and without that performance, they may lose some of their "oomph". Overall, it's a great CD. See the show in Vegas to complete your experience.

    I'm sorry, but this is terrible--the Beatles equivalent of a Fifth of Beethoven. It's a freaking medley for a Vegas show, fer crying out loud! Martin does a tasteful job, but he cannot change the purpose of this exercise: to provide condensed, shortened versions of legendary songs as backing music to visual spectacle. Had this truly been done as an artistic endeavor, to reimagine the Beatles catalog, it would have been fascinating. But it isn't that at all. And it was never going to be.… Expand

    no matter who we are, or what we are doing in life, if we have a family, we all like to spend some quality time with them during the holidays. it is something that i think we all have in common. and for those of us who are less fortunate, i guarantee to you that they reminisce about quality family time at the very least. (i know i have been lately. this year has not been so good to me in the personal life department.) i won't go into detail about what happened to me. that's not the point i'm trying to make here at all. i'm actually trying to understand how the entire planet has chosen a specific time of year to get all close and personal. cozy up with each other. etc. and then it dawned on me. during the first rain of the season. it's cold outside! we have to be inside if we want to stay warm. and if we want to get even warmer, we huddle together with those that we are close to. could it be that we all get together during the winter time because we have to? to survive? now i'm not saying that we don't want to be together with the ones we love. we all know that we want to be with them. so maybe we have to huddle together during the winter to survive, but it is our decision as to who to pick to surround ourselves with. and then we all survive together. and then we all survive together. and then we all survive together. and then we all survive. together. together. and then we all survive together. ~CL www.wakeupbang.com… Expand

    In a nutshell, this album can only really be appreciated by fans but will annoy purists. I say the former because only those familiar with the Beatles' catalog will be able to recognize and enjoy the changes; as for the latter, well, there's not much chance of pleasing them with a project like this. I don't know what kind of replay value this is going to have, and I'm certain we're not getting the full impact without being able to see the stage performance that it's intended to accompany, but it's an enjoyable enough product on its own and a nice shot of nostalgia for fans of the Fab Four.… Expand

    A few hears ago I read an article from a man who was traveling across the US in his car in 1967 the week Sgt. Peppers was released. In those hopeful times, the core of the sixties exploded that summer. Most radio stations played Sgt. Pepper straight through, 24 hours, some of them for days on end. He wrote as one radio station would start to fade another would take its place on the radio. As the Summer of Love blossomed in full force that June, the Beatles provided for a short but eternal time its soundtrack. The Beatles, their sound, their time, their life, and their music are intrinsically wrapped around the hope, ultimately unrealized of the 1960's. The 60's... the visual koan of any individual life, from the innocence of a pre-sexualized love found in I Want To Hold Your Hand, to the awakening of something more than self-indulgence and self-absorption as expressed in Rubber Soul and Revolver…the discovery of another world beyond the Self as imagined in Sgt. Pepper, and the inevitable Zen enlightenment of the back to basics rock in the White Album, that at the end of the journey rivers are once again rivers and mountains are exactly nothing more and nothing less than what they have always been …closing with a dénouement, the inevitable twilight…the distillation of life as preamble as expressed in Abbey Road and its final track, The End. It was on the third continuous hearing of this album, hiding behind my headphones, and a cheap pair at that…that I found myself in the same place as a Buddhist monk who's been chanting for half the night or a novice who's been reciting the rosary for hours…when the guitars on Sgt. Pepper's Reprise first break through Hey Jude's horns... I wasn't aware I'd been weeping till I realized that, yes it really is "getting very near the end..." For me and for those whose who lived it...Their music will forever continue to distill in its most purest form those times, our lives, our hopes, a movement.     I've always liked the Beatles but never considered myself a huge fan, putting Led Zeppelin at the top of the list of legendary British bands for their eclecticism and the Rolling Stones next for their earthiness. I purchased Love with no preconceptions, only curiosity, and was pleasantly surprised by what I heard. The DVD-A version sounds amazing and I was especially surprised that it sounded as contemporary as it does. It's hard to believe it was originally recorded on a 4-track or whatever it was they used, back in the late 60's/early 70's. I've heard many of these songs hundreds of times prior to this recording, but here they sound fresh and timely. I've been noticing details I never heard before and perhaps strangest of all, I've actually come to appreciate Ringo Starr's drumming! I definitely recommend Love, particularly if you have a stereo system that can do it justice.… Expand

    Why do people always want to screw with perfection all the time??? The Beatles are and always will be the best band ever plus they were the masters of layering music and vocal tracks along with other studio wizardry and each of their songs and albums stand alone at proving this point. "Love" to me, confues what they created and makes a cluttered mess of this talent and body of work. For what? To gain a new audience so they "GET" what the Beatles were about?? Pleeeeease. I agree with one poster that the mastering work is all that I thought deserved mention. Do yourselves a favour and get the original Beatles library, absorb it, enjoy it, be in awe of it but please, don't mess with it.… Expand

    A magical reinterpretation of great songs. Yes, some of the mash ups could have gone further, but it was refreshing to see some of the more experimental and, in my view, better tracks getting a run rather than taking the predictable route and sticking all the standard Beatles number 1 lollipops on the CD. The remastering of some tracks (revolution, Here comes the sun), where previously fused lead/rhythm guitar parts are now given full reign as individual instruments better shows the muscial tapestry that was woven in the studio. And this leads to my only gripe, I now want to hear the entire catalogue properly remastered even though it will come at my own considerable cost.… Expand

    Anyone who confuses the songs with jingles is clearly uneducated... Get Back/ Within You Without You/ Here Comes The Sun/Glass Onion are instant classics reborn by the man who is undoubtablyt the 5th Beatle. producer George Martin, joined by his son Giles. Their care is what created this album... any more mixing and it would have become a novelty record. Instead, it is a classic.

You are basically calling the Beatles music crap, because all this is is there songs looked at in a different light. Dude we have obviously worshipped the originals for years upon years now. We know they are great. This album is a fun new way at looking at the catalogue.

    George Martin is absolutely wonderful in his collaboration of all the Beatles songs in this CD, and I must admit I was very impressed with the Beatle songs chosen to make the CD, especially "I Am The Walrus" and "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite" even though, much to my surprise, the Martin duo chose to put Paul's songs ahead of John in this collaboration... tsk tsk... shame on you both! Not that John would have said anything or cared, but as a very well-informed fan, I MUST STATE this to you: John, after all, was the leader and so much more when it comes to the special "magic" we all felt back then when we first heard the Beatles to those who hear it today and feel that same magic. The fact that George and his son Giles chose to put Paul in the forefront of this CD does bring my respect for this duo down a notch or two... come on..... John has earned the right to not only have the obvious -- the first song(s) heard on this CD such as "I Am The Walrus" -- but also his name and his personal touches to each and every project that is put out today having to do with the Beatles. The fact is this: Paul chose to accept the "Sir" title, and John was probably most proudest when all was said and done of all the Beatle accomplishments that the Beatles had "Stayed Working Class". So, I say to you Paul this: "Paul, just Get Back and Let It Be for a CHANGE!." Oh, and by the way, your feeble attempts in trying to get the "Lennon-McCartney" changed over to your name first -- this epitomizes your losing touch to anything that is "real"....Listen to John's Post-Beatle songs and come down to earth! You should listen too George and Giles....… Expand

    The question of whether anybody would listen to Love more than once if the original Beatles albums were available in equivalent sound quality is a nice one. But it doesn't seem to matter much when you can almost feel the spit flying from John Lennon's mouth during Revolution, or when A Day in the Life's orchestral swell comes surging from the speakers. After all, it's hard to ask questions when your breath has been taken away.

    You could figure it as a sop to today's interactive mash-up culture. Or you could say it's just extending the medley-ish, segue-happy ethos of Abbey Road to the band's entire catalog. Really, it's both, and it's bliss.
