PatrickW.Jun 13, 20049Though the second mini - album by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs may be short, it is still sweet, a trickle of a taste of the joy yet to come on their major label debut.

matthewp.Jan 29, 20052i love the yeah yeah yeahs, and i'd probably put their first ep and their full-length on any list of my favourite albums. but machine is just a mess -- 1 good song, and a few stabs at a more experimental sound that fall completely flat. go for their other stuff, and avoid this at all costs.

The Machine EP is a bizarre experiment for the YYYs: is this studio-glazed rocker the one that will show their true colors - or is this just a little endeavor to see what they can pull off? Either way, Im pretty pissed.

60The brittle treble-heavy assault is replaced with clarity, greater exploration of texture and more "professional" recording.

39Machine disappoints on an almost unprecedented number of levels, and its unfortunate length is the least of its problems.
