people may not understand aces style of rapping but hes one of hip hops most underrated lyricists and has some superb work under his belt. people can say what they want. but this is like his past work. classic

Solid, solid cd. Gets better as you listen further. Rhymes and beats all tie together. Not the best work from either one, but plenty good enough.

I listen to that album over and over again. I love the rich music and Acey is cool as always.

Acey always delivers quality sounding lyrics even if the content is a little devoid of original flavor. I find this effort a success but not Acey's best joint by far. As for production... Dope! Love the variation in RJ's style... always original and very reminiscent of Prince Paul from a creativity perspective! Abz

Good beats, but Ace is a little bit lacking on the lyrics.

Aceyalone serves terribly as a lyricist, Rjd2 shows potential as a beat maker but this is far from his work on Deadringer or 8,000,000 stories

Ace is horrible, needs to return to his pre millenium self, Rj is decent but only shows hints of genius, the album's two best songs are solomon jones and a sunday morning mystery, the only song where we don't have to here ace rapping

  1. More than a few productions provide the type of slick, West Coast grind that allows Aceyalone to play the Lothario but still sound like he's satirizing the lover-man archetype.

If Magnificent City is occasionally over-friendly-sounding... well, so what? [Mar 2006, p.138]

Aceyalone's deft merging of bookishness and braggadocio is a rare find. [17 Feb 2006, p.79]
