  • Summary: Greek-born Londoner Andy Dragazis returns with his second album of chill-out electronica.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 5 out of 8
  2. Negative: 1 out of 8
  1. Man Mountain is an explosion of cinematic orchestration and lush 1960s guitars, cerebrally chill and simply extraordinary.... One of the best albums of 2002.
  2. Uncut
    80
Whereas so much downtempo leans heavily on two-note, oceanic synth washes, Blue States are masters of detail. [Sep 2002, p.111]
  3. While not as thrillingly consistent as its predecessor, Man Mountain is another beautiful synthesis of man-made ingenuity and machine-generated textures.
  4. Mixer
    70
More Michael Caine chill than Sean Connery cool, but equally suave. [Oct 2002, p.88]
  5. Urb
    60
Like all exploratory trips, sometimes he has prophetic visions and sometimes he just rolls around a lot. [Oct 2002, p.94]
  6. It's slinky, suave chill-out music, gently exotic, best listened to lounging on throws amongst cushions.
  7. Man Mountain is a poor album. It feels forced (the worst kind of feel for this kind of music), it feels cheesy, and sadly it doesn’t conjure many more feelings beside ‘I think I know what they might have been going for with this…’ Unfortunately they never get there, and it’s a chore to hear them try.

Nicely done but not too much saccharine

A dissapointing follow-up album to the last album
