I loved A Kid Named Cudi but this album is a huge disappointment. Cudi's not a good rapper so he has to make up for it with catchy songs with high school-level woe is me lyrics.... which worked for the mixtape. But this album is so boring it's hard to tell songs apart. Repetitive, boring subject matter and corny narration by Common make this CD waaaay pretentious.

For those of you out there that believe this is not just another mainstream album are sorely mistaken. This is pure, utter radio music that is meant for radio. If you think this music is deep you must not be listening to the correct tunes. All of you who rated this album with high esteem need to go to an Underground Hip Hop website and search all their artists. 1. This first official release is a soul searcher and may require more patience than your everyday debut. Still, the chilly, complicated Man on the Moon perfects the futuristic bleak-beat hip-hop Kanye purposed a year earlier, and rewards the listener with every tripped-out return.
  2. It’s spacey, adventurous, and ridiculously intriguing if only because it’s so different.
  3. Cudi turns out to be that rarest of rap phenomena: a hyped upstart who really does represent a promising new phase in the genre's evolution.
