    VII pursues no radical new directions for Maserati, but even though you sort of already know these songs, they still have enough engaging motion and kinetic force that if you ever loved them in the first place, you'll love them all over again here.

    Ultimately, the album sounds more like Tangerine Dream than it does Justice, but the songs unfold and soar in ways indebted to both the patience of space rock and the immediacy of electronic party music.

    The Giorgio Moroder-style synth underpinning on some tracks adds a unique element; while its use could send some bands in a prog-y direction, here it serves best to create further tension.
