    The most regrettable aspect of Matricidal Sons of Bitches is the recognition that Friedberger no longer sounds like an innovator.

    A little gem. The album consists of pretty, moody, catchy variations on a cohesive theme. Quieter, less crowd-pleasing that some of his other efforts, but full of emotion, ideas, and memorable melodies as usual. Matthew is a brilliant guy.
