Still utterly unque, Buckner has successfully made the transistion from alt-country pioneer to indie-rock experimenter. Thought Doug GIllard's familiar guitar often overshadows the somber poetry of Bukner's lyrics and delivery, the two seem to work very well together. 3. He’s still poetic and hard to pin down, but if there’s one criticism, it’s that his fondness for the midtempo-to-slightly-uptempo range risks making things run together.
