A very smooth album. A great combination of what The Orb does best with smooth guitar helpfuls from Gilmour. Not anything revolutionary, but enjoyable to listen to once in a while.

This ambitious LP is an acid-tinged, ambient headfuck that's guaranteed to blow your brains out all over the couch you've sunk into.

All of this makes Metallic Spheres warm and fluffy, nowhere near as cold as its name suggests, but ultimately it's worth little more than a warm smile, bringing together the favourite comedown musician of the late '80s/early '90s with the stoners' favourite of the decade before, but not really doing anything with the opportunity.
  3. The results are exactly what fans of either act would hope for and a pleasant surprise for those who'd given up on both of them.
