Micah P. Hinson And The Gospel Of Progress Image
  • Summary: The Memphis-born singer-songwriter is backed by The Earlies on this debut disc.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 9 out of 11
  2. Negative: 0 out of 11
  1. An astonishing debut of cosmic country noir. [28 Aug 2004, p.57]
  2. Every so often an artist will release a debut record that has seemingly come from nowhere; you question where this person has been all your life, and how come it took so long for this to get out.
  3. It's possible that 13 songs are too much for the sort of vision that Hinson is chasing, but it's a fine heartfelt effort that rewards as richly as it disappoints.
