Shows off Pierce's prowess tastefully. Practices good songwriting. Heavy layering (which acts as a pro and contributes to a unique yet familiarly ambient atmosphere I felt the acoustic guitar was too centered around, and clashed with the said atmosphere. Favorite tracks: "Double Dolphins on the Nickel" and "Circle None".

  1. Mice Parade still finds Pierce working in a distinctive space, less jazzy than fellow post-rock vets the Sea & Cake but more atmospherically nuanced than typical acoustic singer/songwriters, but it's hardly the most appropriate release to bear the Mice Parade name.
  2. While it is a very good sounding record, this album doesn’t quite hold together from song to song.
  3. Each track is unique and memorable in its own way, but they all follow the same basic pattern and structure.
