There are a few missteps here and there, most notably on the plodding "Witches Dream," and drum-heavy "Well of Love," neither of which fit well on this otherwise strong release.
  2. 70
In the end, Jennings' truthfulness more than makes up for Minnesota's minor setbacks.

A hypnotic, wickedly sexy bit of folk-funk delivered at the tempo of a rambling, acid-soaked desert caravan, the track--as with the rest of Minnesota--leaves you pondering Jennings' poetic intent like a dark mirage spied in the late summer sun.
  4. 60
Jennings' songwriting is at its best in Minnesota when reflecting this troubling sense of uncertainty and contradiction.

  1. I have been a big Mason Jennings fan for years, but not this album. I can't really place it but somehow it comes up a bit short. Its just kind of a bummer to listen to. Expand
