I'm not usually particularly interested in this genre but this album truly blew my mind. It's an instant classic with each track insanely catchy. Do yourself a favour and check it out. I give you my personal guarantee you'll love it. :P

This was a fantastic album that I hope more people find and enjoy. If James Hunter were Amy Winehouse, this could have been her next great album (minus the profanity) the music is strikingly similar, like a great Motown album. Probably go down as one of the great albums of 2013 that nobody heard.

He came out the other side with a hard-won wisdom, emotion and sense of craft that, like soul music, never goes out of style.

Yes, the production is grand, the band tight, and the songs are clever, but Hunter’s voice is the main attraction here. He sings with an ache that never breaks, even though he always seems to be reaching for a note just out of range.

Roth fits Hunter like a glove, bringing out the warmth of his brass section and framing his raw voice in perfectly judged R&B arrangements that spark and bounce.
