This album was written collaboratively with the entire band’s input, so there’s a lot of ground covered on these 15 songs, and plenty of room to get lost.

As a fully realized collaboration, this record sees STRFKR dimming the lights just a little bit and coming into their own more than ever before.

Miracle Mile is the most varied Starfucker joint to date. It’s also one of the prettiest party records you’ll hear this year.

Miracle Mile is a danceable record on its own, but also a reminder to revisit STRFKR's previous albums for a deeper submersion into their cosmic dream world. [Mar 2013, p.93]

Miracle Mile masks its doom-and-gloom lyricism with so much danceability that it plays out with excess optimism. [Mar-Apr 2013, p.102]

Miracle Mile is fun, but the record’s sparse highs also lay bare its lows.

It’s hard to tell if the first half of Miracle Mile is really better than the first, or whether it’s just that a kind of boredom sets in at some point during a listen, whether it’s your first or your fifth.

Not a far stretch from 2011's Reptilians, Miracle Mile is, sonically speaking, lateral to its predecessors. But it holds enough well-crafted tunes to make for an enjoyable album.

As brief as the moments of goodness may be, they’re lost in a sea of noise that becomes near indistinguishable when taken in one sitting.

It's possible that the cumulative deadening effect of Miracle Mile is intentional, or that the contrast between the vacuous music and the spiritual ennui of the lyrics is supposed to be ironic. But Miracle Mile doesn't seem smart enough, musically or lyrically, for that to be the case.

The vocals remain distorted and drowned out, which can be an interesting effect. Except this record could have used them as an anchor.

To me, this album feels like it consists of three main parts. The first three tracks are joyful and very dance-able (though Sazed is a bit slow). The second part is Beach Monster until Kahlil Gibran, which is dominated by guitars. Then the album continues to Say to You and Atlantis, which have a very soft style compared to the previous songs. Both of these songs feel like an intro for the last part. The album feels darker after Leave it All Behind (but still very enjoyable) until it ends with the epic Golden Light + Nite Rite combo. On Miracle Mile it is becoming clear that the band is moving into a new style and going in a new direction, yes not all of the songs on this album are the danceable joyful songs that we know them for, but instead they are going for more of an Alternative Rock feel, there still are those dance songs that we all know and love, but the other songs such as Golden Light and Nite Rite, really stand out with the new style they are going for and those are two of the best songs on the whole album. This is an amazing album by STRFKR and their best yet. Full Review »
