This, much like all of Dumile's other work is outstanding. Though, Operation Doomsday is better, this album is definitely superior to the overrated Madvillain Album. Megallah is mistaken if he thinks this is a weak album. Spin it again, dun, please. It took me a while to get into this album, but it is without a doubt quality. To "Devestating Doom", you say we need to read more if we think the lyrics are hot on this album? You may have to read more, homie....the word is "Devastating". Also, You, with all due respect, must be a johnny come lately if you think poorly executed rhymes and ackward beats appear on this album. One thing DOOM is definitely not is ackward in any way! To the both of you and anyone who doubts "Mic Fiend DOOM", give this album another try and culture yourself a bit more before judging, "Devestating". Doom uses a lot of "slang" on this album, specifically prison slang and double entandres. Dont take DOOM at face value, read into his rhymes and you will become enlightened! PEACE Expand

I think you need to twist one up before you realize the level of this album. Go cop some K-bizzle and put it in your own little pot holders before slanderizing M.F. Doom's work. He has been around for quit a while and still hasen't rhymed about his 22 spinners which is a lot better than mainstream seams to be doing these days. His lyrics are unique to this genere and should be respected as such. Expand

Here in Holland everybody listens to the same 'ol commercial crapheap who r all "on top o tha game'. I'm glad that there are still rappers like doom who don't rhyme about all the superviscial stuff like "rollin on 22"" and all that type of shit. Doom made it overseazz and for an underground rapper that's some big shit..

I think MF Doom's album is the best I've heard in a long time. As far as I'm concerned he is one of the few that still represents the true essence of what hip-hop is all about: raw, rugged, and still with that hungry artist in the basement feel. Plus I'm a child of the 70's, so I'm digging the samples he uses from the old Marvel and Filmation cartoons. As a matter of fact I am listening to track 3 while I'm typing this review. Expand

this is a shame, that all these new fans of doom are so impressed. surely this is a younger crowd. he is capable of so much more than this. i worked at subverse when doom was still there from the doomsday re-release and if you had any idea what level of talent you were dealing with you would see what a sad showing this project is for doom, and how it reveals that he's just making money off the kiddies. recycled beats, only almost top notch rhymes, too much filler. in my humble opinion, his best work was the original viktor. that project was the true essence of doom. not shouldering weak guests (vv2), trying to have friends shine who don't deserve a mic (geedorah), putting together lackluster beats bordering on hysterically bad (food, many of the herbs series). doomsday was a beautiful foray into his mind, and vaudeville took it to the next level. this is a lazy, half ass effort with good timing for the college crowd who needs to feel down with the 'underground', a phenomenon that died back in the late 90's. In my personal opinion this is the best doom album yet!! MF DOOM is the most versatile mc out and if he decided to hit mainstream it would be by storm!! every track is classic!! the only set back was MR. FANTASTIK.That's why i gave it a nine.

Mecha Godzilla is partly right, there's mopre to doom then hard 2 follow beats. Thoug i feel dumile's right. Lots of microwaveable leftovers on this album. Im only 15, im a pretty new MF DOOM fan, i heard both VV2 and madvillain, and I feel MF DOOM could have done a lot better. One of the problems I think, is MF DOOMS vocals not blending in with the beat. It looked like two records were playing at the same time, especially for mr fantastiks flow. Anyway, i hope MF will notice his fans beahavior regarding the album. Untill then, remember all caps when you spell the mans name. PS, i hope hes gonna release a non istrumental version of the album. Unfortunately this album just didn't live up to my expectations. I was disappointed to hear that some of the beats were recycled from his special herbs projects. There were also too many instrumentals. I bought the album to hear Doom flow, if I wanted to hear instrumentals, I would have bought his special herbs cds. MM...Food is not a bad album, I just think Doom is capable of bigger and better things. Expand

The Lyrics are good....The music is good...the instrumentals are all the right places....would be a 10 but what would i rate the Madvillainy which i believed was better....my cd player is making adjustments from commercial to underground stuff! and its loving it!

Entering the new installment of Doom and i felt instantly irritated. Honestly, who wasn't waiting for that intro to end!.. And why should I have to FFW. past it! That's the danger of long intro yeh?? If you claim to be bouncing to this...If you really think the lyrics are the bomb.. you definately need to read more! Poorly executed rhymes and awkward production left me reaallly hungry..

Not as vital as Doom's work on Madvillian, but a worthy addition to the Doom mythology.

DOOM's best next to Madvillainy, everything on here is top notch. The goofy beats are at the same time hilarious and incredibly well executed. All of the samples are well thought out and hilarious as well. DOOM's lyrics are strong as ever, though definitely not his strongest. One of my personal favorites, I come back to this album frequently.

  1. If Mm..Food? feels merely good or somewhat inconsequential, it's because it is that way by design.
  2. In the end, most of the songs on MM..Food? are of typical Doom quality (for the uninitiated, that means â??excellentâ?), but the album is severely bogged down both by a few duds and by a trio of interludes in the middle of the album.
  3. Half of the fun with Dumile has always been the unexpected, ridiculous sampling and the storyline he develops around it. MMâ?¦Food seems unable to capture this element. Doom manages to drop a few great songs, but as an album, MMâ?¦Food falls flat.
