This is, for want of a better word, his wheelhouse, and while he may not be leaving his comfort zone here, Moonshine in the Trunk proves his strengths remain mighty potent.

All of those elements [his clever wit, his skillful guitar playing, curiosity about human interaction, and his nice guy affability] are in place for his latest effort, Moonshine in the Trunk.

Moonshine in the Trunk is a mostly upbeat, feel-good summertime album that largely minimizes Paisley's tendency toward hokey power balladry and whatever the hell "Accidental Racist" is.

It's not his greatest LP, but it's one of his most fun.

More than just asserting his countryness, Moonshine in the Trunk seems like an effort to re-assert his Paisley-ness, to get back to the sort of songs that first got him commercial attention.

A shiny clunker of an album, it rings of brand rehabilitation and topical retrenchment.

Forgettable melodies and arrangements abound on the mid-tempo tracks that comprise the bulk of Moonshine.

This is a typical Brad CD, which is great news for his fans. It is upbeat and funny, but it shows its soft side. This is a very better attemptThis is a typical Brad CD, which is great news for his fans. It is upbeat and funny, but it shows its soft side. This is a very better attempt than his previous, and it recaptures some of the things Brad is best at. Most of the songs are unique and can stand apart from the others on the record. Expand

One word to describe this album is charming. Like cheesy pick-up lines when you're drunk like the bars on a Wednesday night. Significant lackOne word to describe this album is charming. Like cheesy pick-up lines when you're drunk like the bars on a Wednesday night. Significant lack of lyrical substance and the instrumentals are not innovative or pulse inducing. Sadly, this is the second best country album I've heard this year.

Poor year for country music so far.
