This album is awesome. It's the perfect blend of the rough-voiced sound of the first CD, and the ballad-type songs of the second CD. I love how Rob Thomas's lyrics are almost always about relationships, but not just boy and girl relationships. They're about relationships we have with everyone- from our friends and family, to cashiers and strangers. This CD is a definite 10. And props to mb20 for outdoing themselves yet again! Expand

I love every song on this album. I own about 90 CDs and this is my favorite by far. If you are a rock fan, and have a taste for good lyrics, and soulful voices - I suggest you get this disc immediately.

Matchbox Twenty goes above and beyond anything you will hear in this so-called "popular music" genre. And I listen to everything from ambient Sigur Ros to tech metal Between the Buried and Me. I think it's very impressive when a band can run six string sweeps over a series of diminished7 chords. I think it's even more impressive when a band can make a person relate to their music in such a way that he or she will search the music for answers. This is album, and band, are deeply, deeply touching. As for the mediocrity comments, I think most of us can agree there is nothing, and I mean nothing, mediocre about their style. I've been listening to them my whole life. Never before, never since, have I heard such moving pieces of musical mastery. Expand

Despite who sounds like what and what sounds like who; that is always gonna be an issue. Who cares? I don't. A song is a song and coming from a musician myself i think this album has a lot of good songs on it. Other people look like other people just like bands sound like other bands. Again, who cares? Good Album. Critics suck.

Great variety of music. The CD ranges from rocking songs like "your so real" and "downfall" to ballads like "unwell" and "hand me down". Rob Thomas' lyrics make us stop and think about ourselves and our relationships with others. Kick in Kyle, Paul, Adam and Brian with music and back up and they're unstoppable. One of the few CD's I can listen to without skipping a track. Matchbox Twenty does it again! Expand

Unbelievable! That's all I can say about this album. Matchbox twenty never ceases to surprise me. While I like all the songs on the album coming across ones like "Unwell" and "Hand Me Down" remind me of listening to hit soaked YOSLY and finding "Hang" all over again. In an industry where performers seem to be more focused on getting hits out, Rob Thomas seems instead to live through his songs, not the effect they're gonna have on air time. Keep turnin them out boys and I'll keep listening! Expand

Every since they were new I've loved Matchbox Twenty. They've always been my favorite band..you can feel their music and the lyrics are just amazing. I know their second cd seemed to be a failure..but they pulled off some great songs everyone liked. I like them all. I love all their songs on every cd. Their newest one just proves how talented the five are. Lets not forget some credit to Matt, of course. But Matchbox Twenty deserves a lot, they've put in a lot. Their just..to me..the greatest. As per usual Matchbox Twenty never disappoints me. Im constantly impressed by the originality and beautiful thought provoking lyrics. They are one of the truly get poetic bands that exist in todays pop-obsessed music industry.

I will listen to this cd until I get sick of it, or it breaks, whichever comes first. Then I will either give it a rest, then replace the cd, then listen to it again with the same fervor and joy I'm feeling now. I love this band.

In my opinion Matchbox has done it again! They have put out a great third album, without all the hype. They are one of the most talented bands out on the music scene today largely because of their deeply personal lyrics. Hidden treasures of this album in my opinion are Hand me Down, Cold, Could I be You.

Excellent effort by the Matchbox guys. Every song is good or great. Not one that I dislike. Especially love Bright Lights, Hand Me Down and Cold. These guys can write good music that speaks to a wide range of people. And Rob Thomas' vocals are amazing! I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Anyone who gives this under a 7 is musically ignorant. Matchbox Twenty don't pretend to be an atmospherically intense dramatic emotional band, they make music for people to enjoy. That's the whole point and no-one does it better. Albums don't get nominated for album of the year at the Grammys for nothing.

Possibly I am biased towards the band, being a fan since the release of 1998's "Yourself or Someone Like You"...but I must say this album is fresh and reinventive for the band. Taking much of its influence from 1970's rock sounds and ultramodern emotion, I feel that the tone and mood of the album is profound. While I find "Downfall" to be a bit 'off-center' for the band, it is one of my favorite songs lyrically, along with "Could I Be You," and "Bright Lights," which I hope to see as their next single. Staying fresh, while still exemplifying strong lyrical content, Matchbox Twenty has yet to let me down. Expand

I'd give it an 11 if i could. Friends have said that Disease has an element of a Santana song about it, and since i have found out that Rob Thomas was in fact involved with 'Smooth', i can see why. The album contains variety, yet all the songs share one aspect: they're so damn good!

Ever since i first heard Matchbox20 which was 1997 when i first went to America i've been hooked they are class. They don't seem to have made here in Europe due to this continents love for thrash dance music and boybands. Went to see them in Dublin, Ireland when they supported Bon Jovi and Rob Thomas said how come Ireland was the only country in Europe that has ever heard of them. The new album grows on you which is a pure sign of a great album. Expand

Had to listen to the album a few times before I really appreciated it. Now its all that I listen to! Besides disease, my favorite songs include "Downfall" and "All I Need" The more I listen to this CD the more I like it, and the more I understand just how amazing Rob Thomas really is. Especially considering it only took him and the band a few months to put this whole thing together (after a two-year "vacation") Definitely worth $13! Expand
