You Don't Cry Like I Do
You don't lie awake at night like I do 'Cause you don't feel the way I do about you You don't know how much this whole thing hurts me 'Cause you... See the rest of the song lyrics

  1. He continues to deliver the goods on Lucky by singing about the unlucky.
  2. Mr. Lucky makes up for lost time with 14 gems that showcase his sharp vocal stylings, particular brand of countrified pop music and (given his sex appeal) an equally impossible-to-believe preponderance of romantic heartbreak.
  3. Mr. Lucky works because Isaak and crew don't overplay their hand.
  4. It's like he'd never been away after an absence of five years.

The efforts are inconsistent, though, and his affinity with the fun and doom of '50s R'n'R is mostly lost to the demands of commercial bombast. [Jun 2009, p.88]

On this solid business-as-usual set, his band kicks requisite ass on Isaak's decent country-rock tearjerkers. [Jul 2009, p.106]
  7. At times, the material here comes dangerously close to sounding like 14 versions of one song, but he manages to mix up the moods and textures just enough to avoid that pitfall.

A solid album from beginning to end. This ranks right up there with Forever Blue as his best album.

This one is up there among the best of all Chris' albums. I've had it in the car playing over and over for a few weeks now.

VERY ordinary effort from a talented guy. I'm a longtime fan and thisAlbum really "let's us down NOT so easy" with a lyrically dire VERY ordinary effort from a talented guy. I'm a longtime fan and thisAlbum really "let's us down NOT so easy" with a lyrically dire (as in predictable and cliche'd) barely adequate piece of "work". As a fan, it pains me to write this - really. I expected more after 7 years. Expand
