definite grower. i tried my best to dislike this album, but now can't bring myself take it out of the player. A big change in direction for A.A.N., but well worth the persistence for old & new fans of the bjm.

This album is totally hypnotic. BJM continue their progression through the history of rock, arriving at a cross-pollinated Kraut-Gaze that refuses to leave my player or my thoughts. In a perfect world, Newcombe would be a star while lesser talents would be licking his boots, but this reversal would probably sap what is essential to his sound.

Anton goes in another direction with this one... and it's good. Lots of fuzz, noise, distortion and not at all what I was expecting. Total shocker the critics don't like it.

Not something that will blow you away on first few plays. But put it on some night when you can't sleep and it's 2am and it's just you, this CD and your headphones. Then you'll get it. I just hope BJM is able to keep going apace, releasing new stuff like this, taking risks.

Anton's creativity has dried up. Drone is the last refuse for the untalented.

Why the hatin? I love this album. If some of the tracks on here had been released as a single by, say, Wooden Shjips, everyone would be coming in their pants over it. But because its BJM, and because of *that* film, lets write them off.

A storming mess of an album. Awash with psychedelia and drone. A fitting tribute to both bands names colliding in the album title portmanteau. Another under-appreciated and under-rated world class act!

I've been a big fan for years and own everything they've released to date. This is the 1st album by them that I thought was a total waste of time. Disappointingly uninspired.

The BJM tend to be slightly love or hate (which is shown pretty clearly in the reviews), so you expect any number of reactions. You'll know from the first song whether this is the type of album you like - imagine 'In Rainbows' by Radiohead, but remove all the production tricks and add a healthy dose of resentment. This isn't dancing music, this is art-music, and should The BJM tend to be slightly love or hate (which is shown pretty clearly in the reviews), so you expect any number of reactions. Huge fan but not very pleased with this experiment in shoegazing My Bloody Valentine obsession. The track called Yeah yeah is the only song on here that I would listen to a second time. Quite a disappointment...from a huge fan. Overall i'd say I don't hate the album..I just didn't enjoy it

  1. Hellbent on pushing the envelope, Newcombe shines as a prolific madman once again and as recycled as the ideas are, My Bloody Underground is a fantastic new direction and a forward thinking album that indicates that however combustible, there is a lot more life left in BJM, in any incarnation.
  2. As pastiche, this all makes for a fragmented and cumbersome back-to-back listening experience - utterly dominated by wild mood swings. But with so many independently functioning songs on offer, certain suites of two or three become hands down irresistible.
  3. World-weary and introspective, frequently discordant, this is the sound of a man pondering where it all went wrong.
