At times, the album sounds a maybe little too polished, but the energy and stereo movement in songs like "Do We All Feel It" and "Disco Night Driver" sound like they would translate better live than in studio, anyway.

The pottery kiln warmth of the rhythm section lays a solid foundation for Lobsinger's sensual voice. [No. 128, p.59]

The trio lose their equilibrium on Maniacs: a flashy keyboard solo hijacks the song and takes it to a cheesy place. But even when songs swing too deep in that direction, Lobsinger’s steady, breathy vocals keep things grounded.

This is the kind of record you could pack off to the beach for an entire summer then promptly forget about. Too bad. Lobsinger deserves more.

Unfortunately, Night Driver's opening and closing tracks either fade together all too quickly or wade too far into an unpleasant '80s pool. [Jan/Feb 2016, p.57]
