A varied, febrile affair more often than not in pursuit of the lunatic. [Feb 2004, p.93]
  2. On closer inspection, much of Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker appears less like an exercise in deliberately alienating the Coral's audience than a counterpoint to their second album.
  3. Nightfreak is imbued with an appealing, frantic punk energy, but hamstrung by third-rate Zappa lyrics.
  4. Uncut

Little more than a bunch of B-sides in search of a point. [Mar 2004, p.87]
  5. Q Magazine

While Nightfreak... is not spattered with great songs, it does have its moments. [Feb 2004, p.101]

Nothing essential, but a nice carry over from the second album and a good filler til we get the real deal with their third album proper.

don't understand the negative press. if you're looking for a coral fix until their next full length, this is it.
