All [the tracks] are powerfully intimate. [Aug 2006, p.114]
  3. The personal attachment to the material shines through.
  4. While it's hard not to be overtaken with a sense of nostalgia while listening to this album if you knew these songs from back in the day, Phillips pulls them out of their original context and in the process reveals their strength is more timeless than one might have imagined.
  5. The less successful interpretations simply fail to differentiate themselves from the spirit of the originals.
  6. Uncut

These tracks feel less like performances than private reveries on which the listener eavesdrops. [Aug 2006, p.108]

Without exception, the well-chosen tunes become edgeless, pleasant downgrades of their remarkable originals. [30 Jun 2006, p.159]
