    It's tuneful enough but, really, the case for the dismantling of 2010's nostalgic apparatus starts here. Less hypnagogic pop, more over-the-hillwave.

    A sense of awestruck wonder permeates tracks such as "Swallowed by the Night", though when Barthmus tries to deal in more human terms, with the inverse "Ebony & Ivory" schtick of "Shared Piano", the results are less successful.

    It feels like there are more synthetic things of interest here. There are significantly less organic things--lyrics, sentiments, meaning--that will keep you coming back.
