  1. It's a lush, gorgeous record, but it's also small and still, full of unassuming first-person monologues.
  2. Jim Guthrie has created a masterful soundtrack of peace and tranquility, similar to the crowning achievement of another earthly troubadour, named Sufjan Stevens.
  3. An album that has all of the elements necessary to be a pop classic.
  4. Now, More Than Ever is both hushed and sprawling, serene and agitated, jumpy and constant.
  5. Guthrie successfully matches his idiosyncratic lyrics with subtle, layered arrangements lush with strings, crisp guitars, and shifting song structures as likely to burst into anthem or lilt towards confession.
  6. Immersed in beautiful, stirring string arrangements, heartfelt melodies and an all-around warm and welcoming down-home folk feel, the new album is sincerely soothing.
  7. Acoustic without being folksy, poppy without being pandering, and quirky without being annoying. [Oct 2004, p.144]

A dessert-island, all-time classic. Simple and hauntingly arranged folk songs that hit like a bag of diamonds. Lyrics like a puzzle, that'll stick in your mind. A true Grower, ten years later, now more than ever. Expand

This is one of the best records of the year. GREAT production and excellent songs that stick in your head in a good way. Overall there is an understated charm to these songs that grows in addictiveness over repeated listens...not an easy feat by any means. Expand
