-
A solid, atmospheric, singer-songwriter record.
-
He barely sings above conversational volume -- a little bit raspy, rife with emotion and completely convincing. It's a perfect fit for his songs, and for the half-broken but lovely and endearing production style with which he has realized them.
-
The songs on Once Upon a Little Time bloom as slowly as lotus blossom, their graceful colours and subtle variations revealing themselves gradually.
-
Parish is having fun on this album, and the musicians he’s bonded with enjoy the ride as well.
-
It hardly makes for the most exciting record of the year.... But it is clearly a very accomplished album.
-
New Musical Express (NME)His molasses-coated cooing works well along his sparse arrangements. [17 Sep 2005, p.58]
-
Parish is good at what he does, but I suspect he'll have a hard time finding an audience with patience to watch him do it.
