    Unsettling stuff--but weirdly life-affirming, too. [May 2007, p.103]
  2. The Nightwatchman is a Molotov cocktail as volatile as any he's thrown at the barricade of injustice in the past 15 years.
  3. A combination of his rich vocals and hook-filled tunes ensures that the heartfelt result rarely seems like a harangue. [27 Apr 2007, p.141]
  4. Morello's baritone voice is surprisingly expressive.
  5. Morello shows us that he's a) a facile acoustic guitar player, too, b) a better than serviceable singer and c) an intelligent and passionate social commentator and protest singer. [28 Apr 2007]
  6. The real discovery is that he's capable of making the same old racket at just a fraction of the volume.
  7. This is agitprop the old-fashioned way.
  8. At times, the album gets a little precious, but the more inspired moments are truly undeniable. [Jun 2007, p.156]
  9. The potency of the admirable sentiments is undermined by the lacklustre execution.
  10. Morello handles these stark songs with the calm confidence and strong conviction that bears the mark of a man who has spent his share of time on the front lines. [Summer 2007, p.91]
  11. Despite his surprisingly palatable baritone, this remains an album you won't want to listen to more than once.
  12. An album that's high on good intentions but low on spark.
  13. Unfortunately, he forgot he cannot sing or write coherent lyrics.

  1. This album makes me scratch my head in confusion as to why Tom Morello would make this. Most of the album is trash and I only liked 2 tracks on the album. Its just another generic (mostly) acoustic album, Nothing special about it besides the fact that the artist behind it is Tom Morello. Full Review »

Lyrics: Bad Guitar: Sloppy Vocals: Oh my god! Come back Chris for heaven's sake! It doesn't have a single one of the three pilars of a good album. I'm a Tom Morello fan but this is possibly the worst sounding album I've ever heard. I love to stack my itunes with as much music as possible just for the sake of having it on file but this I might just have to discard, yes, it's that bad. If you like Rage or Audioslave, then keep listening because this is a dead end (nomatter what your into) Full Review »
