Absolutely fantastic album, has some amazing singles and brilliant deep cuts like Shock Shock and Know Your Quarry. Even the weaker tracks like Born on a Horse aren't bad. 10/10

This album is the most mainstream rock album by Biffy Clyro, but they still manage to stick to their high powered rock roots. This album is well worth the listen as you will not be listening to it just once.

Undoubtedly one of the best albums of the century so far. This album throws out hit after hit and not just simple hits but some really beautiful songs. From the monumental loud rock crashes of that golden rule, bubbles and boom, blast and ruin that will guaranteed get you jumping, to the spectacular emotional melodies of songs like Many of horror, God and Satan and know your quarry. Track after track is awesome and memorable in its own way. A truly brilliant Alternative rock album. This is the music I want to represent my generation! Collapse

Foo Fighters lite it may be but there are enough good tracks on this to merit a place in the record collection. The best tracks are top quality and the worst tracks are harmlessly bland, but not offensive or terrible. Rather than buying the record Iâ

Ouch, this is bad bad bad rock. Read the glowing review in Q, picked it up and found over-produced, under-inspired music industry product.

Good stuff from the boys yet again. It's more a continuation on what Puzzle started rather than a return to their older [and some would say better] form, but you can't deny the talent, great melodies, catchy as 'Foooook' - Pity Pitchfork media will drag the score right down when they get hold of it.

The first time I listened to this album I thought that it sounded like a well sized cheese sandwich without any bread, the second time around pretty much confirmed my suspections. Musically this is Biffy yet far removed from what Biffy have done in the past, whether it's good or bad no one can blame them for that.. call it natural progression, or an abandoning of progression? Musically this is Biffy yet far removed from what Biffy have done in the past, whether it's good or bad no one can blame them for that.. call it natural progression, or an abandoning of progression? Lyrically the themes or should I say theme becomes quite tiresome and repetitive after a few songs, I feel that after several listens I don't think I'm going to get anything more from this record, normally I would try to stick it out but .... I just can't do it any longer. Expand

I love this album, they seem to have struck a great balance between riffage and balads, this will surely thrust them in to the big league where their sound belongs.

I'm sorry but how does 6 scores of 8/10 equate to an average of 84%. This site's stupid! Album's not bad!

Trite rubbish. Cannot believe this rehash of every cliche in rock is being hailed as some sort of second coming.

  1. A turn towards pop has alienated some fans of their earlier work, but almost everything here could be released as a single, and that’s an undeniably winning achievement.
  2. Can you hear it? It’s here! Biffy finally make that sprint-burst into the rock stratosphere and trample over the competition like badly tattooed elephants smashing through dead branches.
  3. It's likely that their slabs of noise are too explosive. But for Team Biffy, their followers, this is a strength, not a failing.
