I've not seen the film but I am a fan of Air. Based on this album I think I have a fair idea of the tone of the film and was so impressed by this soundtrack I'll definitely check it out. It is a soundtrack/score in the typical sense i.e. there are no songs to speak of, just 40 minutes of music that I'm guessing worked well with the images. If your a fan of film scores you'll enjoy. Fans of Air may go either way as it is a bit of an outlier among their work. Not dissimilar to Arcade Fires "Her" soundtrack or Thom Yorkes "Suspiria". Doesn't fit in with the back catalog that much which might put fans off but for me a very worthwhile purchase. Expand

Having served some time as my top-ranked album, the tunes now feel somewhat outpaced and predictable. Nonetheless, this album can convey a great atmosphere and has, amongst others, helped setting the mood for several defining moments of my life. Strongly recommended blackout/background music.

Another awesome Air effort. Playground Love is one of the best songs I've heard. The other tracks are good too, but not totally great.

One of the rare scores that functions just as beautifully as a stand-alone album as it does background music for its film, Air's Virgin Suicides soundtrack is a triumph. Warm, beautiful, and lush, this is one of the best soundtracks to be released in the last ten years. An absolute must-own, even if you're not an Air fan.

It's synthesized, as expected, but not in a new wave way. Organs breathe a heavy, gloomy sigh through 13 tracks... It's beautiful and I'm sold.

A haunting through line of notes that impact wonderfully in stirring the darker recesses of the mind.

Air's score darkens their brand of soft, introspective melodies with wavering pianos, funereal organs, and disembodied synth loops, and the resulting soundscapes often have a spacey, Pink Floyd-ish quality.
