  • Summary: The Los Angeles-based duo releases a six-track EP produced by Prefuse 73.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 6
  2. Negative: 1 out of 6
  1. Perhaps it’s too early to mark this out as a game changer, but there’s something undoubtedly visceral here, an untouchable element that tugs ever so bristly at the connection to the depths of music that not even time might seek to mellow it.
  2. As tasters go, it’s exciting fare: the appetite for more isn’t so much whetted as left in a state of delightful fervent.
  3. The strength of ‘Out From Under’ exposes the weakness of the rest of EP; everything is terribly impressive and texturally nuanced etc, etc, but there is not much of anything to drive the tracks towards a satisfying resolution that would make you want to listen again.
  4. Origins is frankly very boring. [Winter 2010, p.71]
