Out From Out Where - Amon Tobin
Out From Out Where Image
  • Summary: This is the fourth album for the London-based, Brazilian-born jungle/breakbeat producer and DJ, following 2000's well-received 'Supermodified.'
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 13 out of 15
  2. Negative: 0 out of 15
  1. The focus on a single mood occasionally threatens to lead only to a creative dead-end, but Out from Out Where arguably betters its successors by coming together as a single work.
  2. Tobin's definitely out to have some fun with this record, though the immense density of these soundscapes prevent them from being reduced to chop-shop filler.
  3. But for all its diligent progressivism, Out From Out Where collapses under its own weight, sounding every bit as stubborn and hermetic as Autechre's infamous Confield.

bought the album today.. woah! some critics say that amon must have had a bad day when writing this album (because of the melancholic style).. damn. he's had the best days ever when producing this awesome album. can't find that kind of stuff anywhere else. amon plays his own game! excellent! the sounds are so intense. the mix of subtle melodic lines blended wih split drum hits everywhere just makes you want to go crazy. All tension and building within this album is worth it alone! In this new he even leaves hyper drumming once and a while and insert them with baked up synth sounds that move sooooo good. highly suggested! check his other albums Expand

This is without doubt his best work. He has done an axcellent job of using sub-bass sounds to give it a feel almost as much as a sound.
