  • Summary: The Seattle band (who apparently suffer from either an unusual genetic problem or severe hallucinations) make their full-length debut with this disc.

  1. These Arms Are Snakes have clearly created a distinct sound and are doing something only the Blood Brothers can come close to right now in terms being interesting, inventive and still rocking hard.
  2. A challenging debut that sidesteps inflated expectations by staying close to the group's established sound while still demonstrating a flexibility conducive to future musical development.
  3. This is an updated version of Drive Like Jehu, often faster, angrier, and, conversely, more sparse and peaceful.

Even if Oxeneers doesn't move you, it'll surely floor you. [Dec 2004, p.157]
  6. They simply don't know when to say when. The result turns interesting compositions into over-produced tracks that are weighed down by too many competing ideas.

i'm not so sure about the cd, but the pitchfork review appears to be written by a frosh scribe intent on unnecessary verbosity.

Almost all of The first couple of tracks are okay, but the album quickly turns into one of the most repetitive things that I have ever heard. Almost all of the songs follow the same structure and beat. It's hard to tell which song is which. Collapse
