If Pajama Club resembles anything, it's a Neil Finn solo album, although Dead Leg and Can't Put It Down Until It Ends are as well-crafted as anything he's offered since Crowded House's pomp. [Nov. 2011, p. 139]

In its loose instrumentation and sometimes confused layers (and some questionable lyrics) it does sound noticeably like a side-project from start to finish, and that it was written and recorded in a hurry. There is magic in that of course, but you do feel that is not the way to coax out Finn's A-grade material.

Despite the propulsive energy sustained throughout, some tracks lack focus.

There are worse ways to pass 45 minutes than to listen to music so amiable as this, but Neil Finn has done--and one hopes will again do--much better.

Though not quite the full Finn, nonetheless Pajama Club is fresh and fun. [Oct 2011, p.95]

Pajama Club is an admirable grab at a clean slate, but the price is just a little too high.
