  • Summary: The New Zealand duo releases their fourth full-length album.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 6
  2. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. Paper Dolls is a really delightful piece of work, tender and whimsical and, despite a certain amount of artifice, touchingly sincere.
  2. No longer firmly fixing their gaze upon past, The Brunettes have begun to turn their lights toward the future with Paper Dolls; moreover, these bouncy little bedroom discos should be more than enough to ensure that the band's present (and future) remain bright as well.
  3. Paper Dolls is highlighted by more drum machines and more synthesizers than any previous Brunettes release, yet features some of the duo's most intimate and delicate work. [Winter 2010, p.68]
