It's a brilliant feat: to make a record about distance, Cox has written the most effortlessly approachable music of his career.

It's a fitting conclusion to a near perfect album that finds an artist expanding his musical palate without sacrificing an ounce of himself in the process.

It's a quietly satisfying album with a determined fragility that makes it all the more moving.

It's a record best consumed in a semi-recumbent position, in order to match the loping, laidback pace of the music and Cox's stoned, oak-aged vocals. [Dec. 2011 p. 99]

As his catalogue continues to accumulate faster than just about every other artist out there, you can feel him growing more confident in himself and the ideas he bases his music on. Parallax can't help but feel like a win for this cause because it symbolizes growth more than out-and-out excellence.

After the impulsive creativity of Logos, Parallax, by contrast, is a much more refined listen.

Parallax, unrealised masterpiece or not, sounds like the man in his bedroom with a thousand songs to leave unexplained.

His dreamy soundscapes, catchy acoustic **** and punchy choruses captivate you and don't let go. Cox only gets better with age. This album is much more guitar oriented than Logos, and that is a good thing. Logos is great, Parallax is amazing. Expand

As he describes it,The new album of the Deerhunter front-man, Bradford Cox, known as Atlas Sound, differs from the music of his Rock band. As he describes it, this album is more lonely (you can especially see this in the track "Terra Incognita"), no load guitars are with him or drums setting the rhythm (but you will find a delicate percussion). However this is not a sad album: tracks such as "Mona Lisa" and "Te Amo" (which means "I love you" in Spanish) cheer up the atmosphere of this brilliant record. His voice is in most of the song the prominent sound, and really nice arrangements join him. "Parallax" turns out to be a record to relax and take your mind away for some minutes. Expand

I expected a neurotic record of ambient and loudness (just think of Quick Canal featuring Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab from 2009 terrific Logos) from the über-prolific musician but no. Instead, Mr. Cox presented us with twelve croons, equally charming and hypnotic. Oh, and his best yet. Atlas Sound may finally feel at ease with himself but the truth lies much deeper. As usually, Bradford sings mostly about Bradford (and his demons). But Parallax is listed as â Collapse

Strangely, during "Te Amo," I can imagine myself walking through Zoras Domain from the video game Ocarina of Time. "Mona Lisa" has such a lovely part that has a feel of The Arcade Fire. Unfortunately, some songs have vocals that don't match the beauty of the other instruments. These songs can have the feel of blending into each other. Expand

As for the voice, it sounds like the singer acidentally sniffed a bit too much of his nail polish and then passed it to the rest of the band. That aint no music. Expand
