If these tracks often sound like bejewelled, undiscovered relics then much of that is down to the tough musical palimpsest on which Bratten worked. [Aug 2019, p.93]

Gode was clearly a bold, daring step into unknown territory for Bratten, and Pax Americana is just as impressive, in addition to being much more accessible.

Pax Americana has covered a fair amount of stylistic ground, and while a couple of tracks may prompt a meaningful glance at their runtimes, this is a strong and varied album overall.

It doesn't overstay its welcome; rather, the album fades out like a picturesque sunset. Like the day, the music is over--but hopefully, more is on the way.

Pax Americana is something of a mixed bag of a return for Bratten. Its short runtime and nature as a mix of already released and new material making it feel more like an elongated EP than a cohesive album. It’s a record that takes its time shaking off a clawing desire to replicate its influences, but ultimately finds the form that led to Bratten’s best work again.
