Yorn follows up last year's acoustic flavored "Back and Forth" with a more plugged in effort. Once again the singer/songwriter barely breaks a sweat as he churns out an album full of solid tunes. I kind of wish he'd turn off the cruise control and deliver an album that equals his first one, though.

Maybe not his best album, nor one I'd recommend to someone who didn't know Yorn's work. But, that said, it's 11 solid tracks -- no throw-aways -- and they all have a ragged charm that you don't always find in Yorn's work. This reminds me quite a bit of Ryan Adams' "Rock N Roll" record from a few years ago -- which is a good thing.

Recorded in five days in 2008 with Frank Black in Salem, this album makes you realize where all the rage had gone from Back & Forth; it was here. [Mar 2011, p.99]

    Well-connected New Jerseyite's fifth solo album. [March 2011, p. 117]

To the Yorn faithful this set will probably seem like a step in the right direction.
