    No one brings the funk like Coup. Definitely one of the better Hip-Hop releases of 2006. For those who are big fans of "Kill My Landlord" and "Genocide and Juice," this album will take some time to grow on you, as it takes off where "Party Music Left Off." However with one listen to "Ijuswannalayaroundalldayinbedwithyou," you might be hooked. Keep the party and the revolution goin'!

    the coup are always great--this album has great beats and socially aware lyrics. this is what hip hop SHOULD be. thank god for Boots Riley....go get all the other albums too!

    As usual, the Coup delivers an outstanding album. The beats are great and Boots Riley's straightforward politi-funk is awesome...

    On "Pick a Bigger Weapon" The Coup yet again succeed on every level. Deeply political without being dogmatic or didactic, hilariousand heartbreaking, both smart and fun as hell, this album really has everything you could want in a record. The rare realization of such cliche statements of purpose as "it will make you dance and make you think." The rhymes are there, the beats are there, On "Pick a Bigger Weapon" The Coup yet again succeed on every level. Deeply political without being dogmatic or didactic, hilariousand heartbreaking, both smart and fun as hell, this album really has everything you could want in a record. The rare realization of such cliche statements of purpose as "it will make you dance and make you think."     Awesome political hiphop. Pay absolutely no attention to the idiot from Stylus magazine: he is an idiot and their reviews suck more hose than Roseanne Barr in a pickup outside redneck happy hour. "Laugh, Love, F**k" is the revolutionary party single of the year, hands down. Get down and revolutionary, sucka!

    The album's press sheet draws comparisons to Prince's Dirty Mind and Too Short, and while that's not inaccurate, the references could just as easily be Digital Underground, Paris, Above the Law, E-40, late-'70s Parliament/Funkadelic, any previous Coup album, or just about any other funk-steeped rap album that has come from the West Coast.

    Riley's clearly shooting to become hip-hop's answer to Billy Bragg or Steve Earle, and he's getting there. His ambitions outweigh his results, but there's very little about his "Weapon" that won't spark a response.
