  1. If you enjoy contemporary pop whose market-tested blare offends both rockist philistines and IDM aesthetes, her second album is a worthwhile investment.

You can see Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded as a great rap album dragged down by pandering, but you could equally see it as a triumph that one of the biggest pop records of the year leads off with a half-dozen tracks of blistering, filthy, idea-jammed hip-hop.

    Nicki's shining moments are her straight-up, hip-hop tracks. [#252, p.87]

It's not a classic album, but its contents implicitly argue that the concept of a "classic album" has become irrelevant in 2012 anyway.

More than it's lack of rap, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded suffers most from not fully being any one thing, as it's unable to balance multiple approaches into one package.

Pink Friday: Roman's Revenge isn't bad because of Minaj's cross-dressing it is bad because she often tries on some very banal, characterless outfits.

By doubling down on her cartoonish elements, she's lost all remnants of lyrical ingenuity she around the time "Monster" first leaked, let alone her various mixtapes.

She's trying to breakout of her little box labeled "rapping only" and reaching new heights. It should be clear that people try to become more diverse. It may sound like a lifeless, cheap album with fillers, but after hearing it again, listening to the lyrics, the songs became very catchy. Expand

She really managed to knock out hip hop tracks that were fire, along with pop tracks that were just as amazing. As a hip hop fan, I love the rap side, but Nicki has managed to get me dancing to songs like Pound The Alarm and Whip It. She really did a great job with this album and deserves success with it. I've given it a few listens on Youtube and the songs are actually really good and really catchy. Starships, which is already on the radio is probably one of the worst on the entire album and even that song is pretty good. Va Va Voom, Whip it and Pound the Alarm have become some of my favorite Nicki Minaj songs now. Roman Reloaded is even better than Pink Friday and has surpassed it in every way so go give it a try ! Around about the first haflf of the album is dedicated to minimalistic rap beats with lyrics to both match and boot. Unfortunately the second haly falls into little more than generic pop music which plays safe if nothing else. One just wishes nicki would have the guts to embelish he r creative side much more. The tracks are definitely saved are Champion and I Am Your Leader, for the remaining 3/4 of the album produced by RedOne is just to speak ill. Surely this album is testimony to the desperate search Minaj success and one of the worst albums of the past 10 years. Expand

There's probably two good songs on here and neither of them are great. Roman Holiday is one of the biggest messes I've ever heard. Good for her for doing whatever the hell it is that she wants, but it's almost insulting that she put this out and expects us to pay for it. Thank you to Rdio for letting me stream before deciding whether or not to buy it. The pop tracks are nothing new. In fact, they are kind of corny. "Starships were meant to fly"....can we take a moment to decipher what this is supposed to mean? "Marilyn Monroe" is another hilarious song. Expand
