Jun 10, 2011Overall Killer Mike and Pl3dge is focused, hard hitting, a little pissed off at the way things are, and overall a breath of fresh air.
-
Jun 7, 2011I'm curious to see and hear how an album that addresses nothing but social issues would turn out, but I'm more than satisfied with this release in the meanwhile as Mike continues to pledge his allegiance to getting rich independently, or simply put, the grind.
-
Aug 4, 2011While other artists have struggled to contain both their lofty ambitions and animal instincts on the same album (see also, David Banner), and while it does have its low points and high points, Pl3dge sounds remarkably cohesive.
-
Jun 28, 2011Pl3dge is constructed simply as a sturdy platform for one of rap's fiercest and most incisive voices, and it achieves that goal completely.
-
Jun 13, 2011As is often the case with politically charged rap, the album at times comes off preachy, but it rarely oversteps the boundary.
-
Jun 7, 2011A guest list that goes from Big Boi to Gucci Mane make the album highly desirable, but it's Mike that makes it vital, rivaling the Slaughterhouse crew when it comes to delivering grown man's hip-hop and Ice Cube when it comes to pimping while preaching.
-
Jun 7, 2011The album at times teeters on the point of greatness.
-
Jun 7, 2011Simply as an album, this is good stuff, and nothing can take away from that, it's only hard to forget how much more the man who brought it to you is capable of.
-
Jun 7, 2011ATL kingpins Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, and T.I. pay their respects, and Mike mimics their strip-club homilies, but he shines brightest as the trap's "book reader" and "gang leader."
-
Jun 7, 2011PL3DGE is a very good album that makes some common major label mistakes, not a life changer like it's predecessor.
-
Jun 28, 2011On Pl3dge, Killer Mike is often captivating, but his politics are just noise.
