    Even if it is not as original or wildly thrashin' as the first album, Post-Mortem is still a decent follow-up, especially considering that Black Tide are still only in their teens.

    There are unique nods to the band's Latin-
American heritage -- an acoustic flourish here, a manic, Mars Volta–style polyrhythmic breakdown there -- but they're too 
few and far between.

    It's hardly the most memorable or creative rock/metal album of the year, nor is it a spectacular follow-up to the otherwise impressive LightIt's hardly the most memorable or creative rock/metal album of the year, nor is it a spectacular follow-up to the otherwise impressive Light From Above but Post Mortem is still a decent collection of standard rock tunes.     When I first heard Light from Above, I thought it was a breath of fresh air, having a similar feel to metal of the past with nothing butWhen I first heard Light from Above, I thought it was a breath of fresh air, having a similar feel to metal of the past with nothing but amazing guitar solos and great vocals.
    Sadly, I can't say the same for Post-Mortem. It seems to have fallen into the Avenged Sevenfold/Nickleback/Linkin Park hole. While that won't be a problem if you love any or all of those bands, it's such a shame to a promising band go to waste just a few years later. It's definately not the worst album ever made, but it just doesn't sound as sweet as Light from Above.    … Full Review »
