While there are unmistakable comparisons to bands like PUP and The Dirty Nil abound, Precious Art rolls on to mesh together a lot of influences while still standing on its own, carving out an identity that's as distinct as it is loud and catchy.

There’s something for everyone on Rozwell Kid’s new album, to be honest: It distills down a good two decades’ worth of guitar solos, pop hooks and wink-nudge lyricism into--well, would you look at that--a delightfully precious piece of art.

What they lack in stylistic originality, Rozwell Kid make up for in spirit and craft, delivering a smart and highly entertaining power pop record in an appealingly familiar style.

The gifts of Precious Art are more apparent when comedy shades the melody instead of overshadowing it.

If you're looking for a good time and willing to embrace Rozwell Kid and all their oddities, Precious Art will make for a fun and, in some ways, nostalgic listen.

Lyrics largely consist of nostalgic references, in-jokes and arch observations, but with a bummed-out charm that invites rather than excludes. If you’ve played the classics to death and want a fresh fix, this is among the best of the new breed’s offerings.

Rozwell Kid does it again. Seriously, this band is so reliably fantastic, I'm just excited to see where they go from here. Major highlightsRozwell Kid does it again. Seriously, this band is so reliably fantastic, I'm just excited to see where they go from here. Major highlights here include "Boomerang", "Wendy's Trash Can", and "Michael Keaton", but really, the whole album is worth the listen. Glad to see them on SideOneDummy too, really great fit for the band. Expand
