Not excellent and not really true hip-hop but if you take it for what it is it has some very good Dance/Rap tracks and good featuring artists.

This is a superbly crafted album, with excellent production, surprisingly adequate delivery and well-executed concepts. The ghost-writing is top notch, and there is not a wasted verse to be found. OK, I wish that Diddy could have written it himself, but at least he's honest with us! 'Press Play' was genuinely worth my money, and I very rarely say that - enjoy! Expand

Lots of variation in the tracks which all end up sounding well due to great production. But Puffy's vocals make this album feel sort of like a burger at Micky D's...it might taste good, but it's so artificially produced that it lacks candor or any real sense of authenticity.

Superb....consistent from start to finish. I wish peopl would rate albums after actually listening to them, instead of arbitrarily casting votes due to dislike of an artist.

Diddy's work as a rapper is well known, he's just not a rapper; however for this album his flow isn't as bad as his other previous albums. The thing that saves this album is the production and the beats....

  1. The musical brilliance that surrounds him only serves to highlight Combs's shortcomings as a rapper.

This is a garish, puzzling album, and it isn’t the sort of CD people pick up when they want to explain what’s great about hip-hop. [12 Oct 2006]
  3. Press Play has something for most everyone: street raps, club jams, glossy R&B.
