Prospekt's March [EP] Image
  • Summary: The eight-track EP contains songs from the "Viva La Vida" sessions, including one track featuring Jay-Z.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 7
  2. Negative: 0 out of 7
  1. A slight change of pace can be seen in this EP with a hip-hop icon cameo and some Eastern embellishments that may hint to new musical endeavors for Coldplay.
  2. Six tracks are leftovers from the Brian Eno-produced "Vida" sessions, many of which make noticeable, if not exactly terrifying, departures from the band's swelling rockery.
  3. In truth, of the eight previously unreleased tracks, one is a not-massively-adventurous reshuffle (the Osaka Sun mix of 'Lovers In Japan'), another a 48-second long incidental piano piece, another the version of 'Lost!' that features Jay-Z on autopilot (ie, still quite amazing) but is on the flip of the single.

Unbelievably good. Amazing for a collection of songs considered not to be used as A sides.

  3. For The small collection of Viva La Vida cut outs this EP fares pretty darn well. To be honest Viva la Vida made me finally go to point realizing Coldplay were losing their touch (not a positive sign as most bands dont begin to burn out until about their 8th, if at all). But the songs on here as a whole provide a far stronger experience and beauty that only the 2nd half of VLV began to dive into. the title track is perhaps is one of the most emotional pieces they've ever made. the other main songs "rainy day"and "now my feet wont touch the ground" are the first truly "experimental" songs from an era of recording that Coldplay has claimed to be one. "Life in Technicolor II" a powerful opener that beats its instrumental conterpart on vlv and postcards form far away is also a good one. lovers in japan and jay-z-a-fied lost+ are forgettbale but the rest is fine... buy it Expand
