  • Summary: The moody Los Angeles-based four-piece returns with a fourth album.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 10
  2. Negative: 0 out of 10
  1. All in all, Push The Heart is an admirable, sometimes striking record from a band with a few of those now in their catalog.
  2. Push The Heart is easily the most developed batch of songs from the group, easing through ten assured tracks of soft orchestral pop.
  3. Uncut

Inhabiting the same last-dance ballroom as Portishead's noir torch songs, this monument to ennui is prettily impressive. [Mar 2006, p.90]
  4. The Devics' music is chamber pop at its most lush and dreamy.
  5. New Musical Express (NME)
    60
    It's a consistently engaging combination. [18 Feb 2006, p.35]
  6. Q Magazine
    50
Whilte thoughtfully put together, Push The Heart is hardly a venture into uncharted territory. [Apr 2006, p.119]

Beautiful, elegant music from some neighborhood in LA that isn't really on the map.

Beautiful album, especially "come up" and "salty seas". Not all songs are that wonderful, but the singing is magnificent everywhere.

This album is one of the worst I've heard in a while. Incredibly boring. Ugh.
