A celebration of quality rap music, past, present, and future.
  2. Apr 10, 2012
Stuffed with bomb-ass beats and rhymes that will bang from Cali to Darlington.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you, coming all the way from left field, the best album of 2012 so far.

Quakers is the kind of album where favorite tracks change from listen to listen, and a testament to hip-hop's enduring power.
  5. Apr 3, 2012
Referring to Quakers as a collective is a touch disingenuous.... But, fresh and subtle spins on hip hop are sufficiently widespread throughout this set that it's just about the only complaint worth making.
  6. Their identity is hard to peg, and its just this that allows the music to completely possess the forefront, that makes it such an engaging, entertaining, and, perhaps most significantly, fascinating listen.

Despite the many cooks involved in this project, it maintains a sonic and lyrical cohesiveness.

It clatters past in little over an hour, lean and propulsive despite its sprawling, scattershot nature. [Jun 2012, p.109]
  9. May 2, 2012
Strangely enough, as short and freespirited as the tracks are, the album itself is a behemoth that takes some listening dedication to unwrap and to assign meaning to--and it's an effort that's well worth it.

Quakers is kind of a mess, and odds are that a not-insignificant number of people are going to find the beats more consistently entertaining than the verses... But ambitious messes are the best kind, and riding out the less-interesting moments is worth it in the long run.

They run a tight ship, cramming 41 short, tough tracks onto Quakers with verses from indie-rap stalwarts Guilty Simpson, MED and Prince Po. [May 2012, p.80]

As dense and diggable as it may be, however, its sheer quantity of intel and change-ups can be euphorically overwhelming.
