  1. True, most albums lag in the second half, but the lag here is so noticeably at odds with the intelligent goofiness it follows as to almost negate it.
  2. The band's most “accessible” album to date.

Though Quebec feels more like a collection of songs than a consistent album, the songs are generally good ones. [#5, p.110]
  4. There's something here for everyone, to be sure--but closer to Ween's antic hearts, something to annoy everyone as well.
  5. Blender

These oddballs have chops aplenty, and the balancing act they pull off on Quebec is no joke. [Sep 2003, p.132]
  6. I don't think anyone who already has some notion of wanting quebec could possibly be disappointed-- it's the genre-defying psych of The Mollusk and the incongruous irreverence of 12 Golden Country Greats, and some of the madness that is GodWeenSatan, and it's a lot better than the go-nowhere White Pepper.
  7. A glorious and preposterous journey.
  8. [It's] Ween's darkest record, and it is tremendous.
  9. Reaffirms the iconoclastic duo's ability to be novel without succumbing to novelty.
  10. This is Pure Guava performed with the precision and cleanliness of White Pepper -- perhaps a mixed blessing for some (those who long for the Scotchguard-fueled madness of The Pod), yet it's a sheer delight for those who patiently sat through the longest period between Ween albums yet.

With Ween, nothing is done by halves. [Nov 2003, p.126]
  12. Mojo

Plenty of smokey psychedelia, country-rockin' fun and damn fine tunes. [Oct 2003, p.122]

Ween's best album ever. Motorhead tribute opener doesn't seem as solid as the other tracks, but still belongs on the album. 'Zoloft' isWeen's best album ever. Motorhead tribute opener doesn't seem as solid as the other tracks, but still belongs on the album. 'Zoloft' is hilarious, brown, 5 star song; 'Transdermal Celebration' is a great rock song with especially excellent vocals from Gene Ween; Synthezizer filled 'So Many People' is Ween at their brownest since The Pod; Acoustic 'Tried and True' is one of the best songs on the album; 'Happy Colored Marbles' starts off freaky, gets cute, and ends scary; 'Captain' is the only lame track; 'Chocolate Town''s weird rhymes and catchy chorus will keep you hooked; 'I Don't Want it' is perhaps Ween's only earnest song, and it is AWESOME; The strange(but still comprehensible) tale of 'The Argus' will keep you hooked for all 5 of it's minutes; 'If You Could Save Your Self' is a great, earnest song with tortured vocals and an orchestra in the back ground; and bonus track 'Ooh Va La' is just so WEIRD. 11 stars! I couldn't stop listening to this album when I first got it. It is amazing. Ween however is an aquired taste, so much so that even critics,I couldn't stop listening to this album when I first got it. It is amazing. Ween however is an aquired taste, so much so that even critics, who generally are drawn to awesome-yet-bizzare music,(Radiohead's Kid A is a great example of this) are left scratching their heads.
