But the combination just doesn' t work out. Diana Krall's voice seems out of place, out of tune. The orchestra sounds spiritless and drowsy instead of laid back.     Individually the songs are beautiful but together they induce sleep. Lacks the "snap" of some of the arrangements on "Look of Love."

    Not a best effort, Ms. Krall tries to break her formidable mold, and delivers a very nice smooth, and rather boring album. When no one is particularly listening. There is virtually no contrast here, and her voice is too soft and breathyt. I think it's supposed to be romantic, but it comes across as amateurish. She can do so much better than this. Also, the full orchestra used to back her up is so far in the background that it might as well not be there. I guess someone wanted a truly safe album. Only for die hard Krall fans. Or people who don't like jazz much. And in hotel lobbies. Rest homes. Funeral home restrooms.… Full Review »
