With Gilbert's powerful pipes and his bang-on production values, Shai Hulud have never sounded better than on Reach Beyond The Sun. [Mar 2013, p.89]

It's the raw and relentless aggression of Reach Beyond the Sun as a whole that makes it worth the listen.

With this latest (featuring the return of New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert on vocals), they prove it all still works in a big way, a sign that they’ve been doing it right all along.

The demonic rage of this innovative band approaching 20 years in existence is in top form on these 11 unrelenting songs.

Comparing to the previous one "Misanthropy Pure" it is less technically complicated, there are no constant tempo changes and it sounds more smooth. The music is typical for Shai Hulud, I believe it's fair to call it progressive melodic hardcore. The songs are catchy, the melodies are catchy. So probably this will be one of the best 2012 albums in my personal top. Full Review »
