At 42 minutes, Reasons begins to drag a bit, and it may not bring Klein the attention she enjoyed with her former band, but it is a sonically captivating and promising first effort that reveals itself a little more with each listen.

The lack of technique gives Reasons to Live an unfinished quality that suggests there's either more depth than there appears to be, or an underlying emptiness deriving from too much feral energy and not enough songwriting.
  3. Feb 14, 2013
It’s when the pace slows that the record drags slightly, though Klein’s lyrics elevate even the mid-tempo songs.

  7. Mar 7, 2013
Coming from an artist as singular as Klein, Reasons to Live fails in one very frustrating way: it sounds like the kind of record that anyone could have made.

So far, after a couple listens, the sound of this album is stunning...not original (what is these days?), but beautiful. It has the post punk angst of various generations of Grrrl rock combined with a melodic ethereal quality that for me works remarkably well Full Review »
