People Change. This album is a nice evolution from other albums. Dedicated to his home Detroit, it has "soul" and depth. He does not rehash the same themes like some artists. If I wanted an album like the others (which I like) I could just listen to them. This is new and fresh. It is not "American Bad-ass," but music with deeper meaning. If you don't like this album. Then you don't like the roots of Rock'n Roll. You have to hand it to Kid Rock (Robert Richie) for his independant writing and song creations. Mark my words, there are some people who will never give him a chance. And there are alot that just love him. I give this album a 10. Chickens In The Pen- Kicks the album off with a boogie rock / funk hybrid. Great harmonies by the band members as Kid Rock only sings on just one verse and the main line in the song by himself. This song is a great party/dance tracks and almost him possible not to dance to. Let's Ride- AC/DC style rocker I dont care for the vocoder he doesnt need to mess with his voice the chorus lacksChickens In The Pen- Kicks the album off with a boogie rock / funk hybrid. Let's Ride- AC/DC style rocker I dont care for the vocoder he doesnt need to mess with his voice the chorus lacks power because of it. The gutair work makes up for it.

3 Chords And The Truth Boogie- Fantastic song love the dirty dark gutair intro by Blake Mills, vocals very good the song is about corruption and politics you can here a Bob Seger Fire Down Below influence to it

Detroit,Michigan- Ronnie Love cover, die hards dimiss as cheesy but most motown songs were ,good harmonies and catchy.

Rebel Soul- I love the riff and drum effects as weird ambience breakdown towards in, voice is a little rough on it

God Save Rock N Roll- Not orginally his take at "Shooting Star" by Bad Company, also pure trucker bar country not rock but this song is growing on me strong vocal track again

Happy New Year- John Eddie cover has hit potential catchy and sentimental while tongue in cheek is about a hook up with an ex. Likely next single with New Year's looming.

Celebrate- Killer song as a mesh of a Bob Seger,ZZ Top,AC/DC influence has an awesome breakdown towards the end and great solo.

The Mirror- again like Let's Ride can do without the vocoder, fans love this I think its an average ballad in his catalog ( I think Picture is his worst ballad and that was a big hit so maybe this will hit) could of used more lyrics its a little repetive powerful ending though

Mr Rock N Roll- best song on the album pieces together a song using all rock n roll titles. Elements of Chuck Berry,Lynyrd Skynrd and AC/DC channeled. Best vocals he's every layed on a track

Cucci Galore- doesnt even sound like him you swear its Prince impressive range. This is a cover of Ultra V's Playboy Mansion good strip club/party song.Weakest track on album, he introduces us to his alter ego Bobby Shazam on this track. Video on you tube a riot.

Redneck Paradise- Dive Bar Anthem channeling Hank Jr honky tonk , great gutair riff for a country song

Cocaine And Gin- Dead on Rolling Stones sounding that its criminal written by members of Uncle Kracker's backing band. Fantastic gutair work again.

Midnight Ferry- starts out as a blues song that turns into a midtempo rock song bordering on pop, this could be the albums big hit if a single. Very catchy about a breakup has great drums on it.

Funny this album is called "Rebel Soul" when most of the album reeks of commercial gimmicks and overused rock hooks. A Rebel Soul playing it safe is the most hypocritical thing ever.

Derivative garbage. Just when you think Kid Rock can't get any worse, in comes this garbage. Seriously, save your money. It's not even worth the bandwidth to pirate. Full of weak attempts at nostalgia, it's some kind of bizarre mishmash of the worst kind of country and soul. Just completely and irredeemably awful.

His recorded albums, and even his mesmerizing live show, have gradually incorporated a country sound. That trend continues on his latest, the rewarding 14-song Rebel Soul.

It's a whole lot of uneven songs crammed into an overlong album that tries hard to please the fickle country/rock-'n'-roll/hip-hop audience-but not too hard, because that's not Kid Rock's style.

Kid Rock is an amateurish singer, but over the last few years his unsteady squeal has been become burnished and is now credible.
